I love rings with a vertical setting, and this one is particularly elegant. Dating to the late 1800s, the setting is 9ct gold, featuring a claw set white opal in the centre surrounded by a floating circle of gold. The opal flashes with colour when the light hits it - opals are said to bring good luck, possessing all the virtues of the various gemstones, thanks to the colour play. Above and below this are small gold flowers, each set with a seed pearl. The band is a 1.5mm wide round wire, in 9ct gold. One of a kind and sure to draw attention.
