A classic, original 1930s-40s bag, in excellent condition, completely updated with the addition of an adjustable Napoleonic Bee strap, enabling the bag to be worn cross body or over the shoulder. The bag itself is the star - beautiful inside and out, as well as very practical!
In the 40s, Corde bags were advertised as the "Dressiest, Handsomest and Longest wearing of all handbag fabrics", and this promise really held true, as 80 years later, those which have been looked after still have plenty of life left in them!
This bag is made from Dark Navy Cord yarn, with matching fine grosgrain on the top edges of the frame. The lining is a heavy matching satin, with pockets on both sides. The frame and clasp are brass, in very good condition, and the clasp has a spiral effect, with a navy stone in the centre.
The strap is a sturdy nylon webbing tape, in Navy and Red stripe, with golden yellow Napoleonic bees embroidered onto it. The strap has a slider to adjust the length as required. Made in England, with original label inside.
